Specializing in new traditional design, Amal Kapen blends antiques with modern elements to create interiors that are stylish, welcoming, and timeless. Her work ranges from playful and youthful to classic and refined, always grounded in a thoughtful approach to color, proportion, and comfort. With an eye for detail and a dedication to client service, Amal ensures that every home reflects the personality of its owners while bringing joy to daily living.
Her work has been featured in Veranda, The Wall Street Journal, HGTV, NYC&G, Hamptons Cottages & Gardens, Traditional Home, Coastal Living, Cottages & Bungalows, and Newsday, among others. In 2025, Amal was also honored as a Kips Bay Palm Beach Designer Showhouse participant, a testament to her vision and standing in the design community.
In 2018, Amal opened Amal Kapen Interiors & Decorations, her design and antique shop in Cold Spring Harbor, NY. Filled with carefully curated vintage and new accessories, lighting, and furnishings, the shop has become a favorite destination for design lovers.
Born in South Africa and raised in Garden City, NY, Amal studied at Amherst College and Vanderbilt University School of Law. She now lives in the Huntington area with her husband, their two boys, and beloved dog, Theo.
